The families of Leopoldville victims began to receive notifications that their relative was missing or deceased beginning in the middle of January 1945 until as late as April 1945. Local newspapers often published those missing reports or obituaries and later after the war the return of bodies for burial in local cemeteries. The newspaper accounts on this page have mostly been made possible by the genealogy research of Danna Hoppes whose uncle T/5 Seth Reed was a Leopoldville victim. The parents, brothers and sisters and fiancée of Sgt. Gerald Bosch published the above “In Appreciation” in the Sioux Center News, Iowa newspaper on March 29, 1945.
