    Hi Diane,
I found a copy of the Sanders book for $23 plus shipping. Hardcover in jacket (with several small tears.

I came across this copy on AbeBooks.com for $18 (plus shipping) and thought you might be interested.

Thanks very much! I do know his body was recovered and he was buried in France for some time. Eventually he was brought home and was buried in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Bloomington, MN. As a kid all I “knew” from my Mom was that he was killed at the Battle of the Bulge. That was bad enough, but when I found out – just 2 or 3 years ago – what really happened to him, well, that was truly heartbreaking.

I’m glad your father was one of the survivors. I can’t begin to imagine though, the horrors he experienced and how that must have haunted him. The whole thing is incredible beyond words.

I have often wondered if those who died were posthumously awarded the purple heart. And if so, if I could get a replacement of Glenn’s. (My dad was a B-17 mechanic in England and I was able to get replacements of his medals. Nothing at all like a purple heart, but I’m very glad to have them.)

Thank you again for looking up the information. I must find the book now.

Speaking of books – I came across a reference to another book on the Leop0ldville just yesterday – “A Night Before Christmas” by Jacquin Sanders. I think it was first published in 1963. Have you heard of it? I don’t have it but want to track a copy down.

    Best, Bruce
